A diverse group of 11 to 14 year olds, teachers, and volunteers huddle together and put hands in the middle of a circle, demonstrating teamwork.

About This Class

Using improvisation, theater games, and role-play, students in our “Improv for Interaction” classes practice skills needed for positive social interaction. Participants will increase their capacity to focus, take and follow directions, and ease anxiety. Among the themes this class will touch upon are:

 

  • Initiating conversation and play

  • Building communication skills

  • Participating in non-preferred activities

  • Self-regulation and comfort

  • Completing a task from beginning to end

  • Dealing with bullying

  • Leadership and taking direction from peers

  • Working together in small groups

  • Identifying emotions

  • Team building and group decision making

  • Self-advocacy

  • Non-verbal communication
